‘Days of our Lives’ Turns 55, Cast to Celebrate Anniversary with Special Virtual ‘Day of Days’ Fan Event

Fifty-five years ago today, the daytime drama series “Days of our Lives” debuted. Telling the tale of denizens living in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem, USA, the soap opera has become one of television’s longest-running scripted shows of all time behind only “Guiding Light” and “General Hospital,” respectively, in terms of total years on the air. To honor its 55 years on TV, the cast of “DAYS” will be on hand for a free virtual fan event on Saturday, November 21 as part of the annual “Day of Days” tradition.

Held every year on or around the show’s anniversary, “Day of Days” gathers most of the cast at Universal Studio’s CityWalk. With COVID-19 still a factor, however, the event will now take place online and will include cast members taking part in virtual Q&A panel sessions, quizzes and trivia challenges; a virtual behind-the-scenes set tour with an exclusive look at Salem in 2020; “at-home” content with cast members; and much more. This first-of-its-kind fan event will be accessible to everyone across the U.S. (and abroad) from the comfort and safety of their own home.

This virtual fan website will launch the morning of November 21 starting at 10:00 a.m. ET, with new content being released throughout the day. Fans will have the opportunity to browse the site and engage and watch new content provided by the actors. Fans should stay tuned to the show’s official social media pages for more information, including the fan event to follow.

Debuting November 8, 1965, “DAYS” has been a premier program for NBC over the years, so much so that network staples “Saturday Night Live” and “The Tonight Show” have had running gags based on the show’s characters. In fact, “DAYS” was frequently highlighted in the 1990s when the character Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) appeared as a featured player on the soap within the realm of “Friends” over the course of several seasons.

Entering its 56th season on the air, the current core families featured on the soap are the Bradys, Hortons, and the DiMeras, and the show’s multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama.
